WHAT IS YOGA?
“Yoga (/ˈjoʊɡə/) is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India.” (source: Wikipedia)
Yes that’s a very short and dry definition of Yoga. Everyone has got a different idea of what Yoga is and experiences different benefits from it.
For me, Yoga is a way to combine physical and mental wellbeing in a way that no other workout can offer. It is the activation, exploration and relaxation of the physical body, the awareness of the movement and the breath but also (and not less importantly) it is a practice for the mind to become still and reflect on different topics that influence our wellbeing and happiness. It is a journey to the inner self and a way to take time out of our busy lives to switch off and recharge.
